African Congo Cult Knife with authentic patina

Ritual Knife. Congo. Length16 7/8'', Blade width 5 3/4'', Handle width 2 1/2''. The dark wooden handle has one small cleft and one large cleft with an old staple and is secured to the iron blade with 13 brass bands. All surfaces have authentic aged patinas. The blade has a slightly raised spine and a particularly pleasing silhouette.

Congo cult paraphernalia is loaded with mystery and juju. Although the rituals of secret societies are unknown, we have been told by local authority that this knife is not a weapon per se, but may have been used in small sacrifices. The nidengese is carried as a symbol of prestige and power.
