The Green Tara is the female Buddha who especially radiates compassion and mercy. She is related to Avalokitesvara. Her presence is very auspicious at important times of transition such as birth and death. She is a spiritual friend.

She is surrounded by her principle emanations, boddhisattvas and Buddhas. She sits on a lotus throne and holds a lotus flower, symbol of compassion. She is the special protector of Tibet.
